What are the requirements to be a 911 Dispatcher?
– Ability to multitask (we have 11 phone lines, 8 radio channels, 8 computer screens)
– Efficient with computers and typing
– Attend 40-hour Basic Communications Course in Forsyth
– Successful completion of 8-to-12-week in-house training program
– Ability to remain calm and use good judgement during high stress situations
– Flexibility to work nights, weekends and/or holidays
Is there a minimum hourly requirement to be a part-time 911 Dispatcher?
Yes. There is a minimum requirement of 20 hours per week.
What are some of the job duties of a 911 Dispatcher? (This includes but is not limited to)
– Answer all 911 lines for Milledgeville/Baldwin County
– Answer all administrative lines for the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office
– Dispatch for the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, Baldwin County Fire Rescue, Milledgeville Fire Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, pre-alert for Milledgeville Police Department, etc.
– Run information through the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC)
– Dispatch other/outside agencies when needed
– Notify utility companies, wrecker services, railroads, etc.
– Handle Text-to-911 calls
How do I send mail to an inmate?

Beginning February 10, 2024, Inmate Mail sent to this facility will not be accepted.

After February 10th, 2024, inmate mail should be sent to the following address, where it will be scanned into the inmate’s JailATM communication account.

  •  Bulk mail (copies of internet sites, numerous large, scanned copies, etc.) will not be accepted.
  • Legal mail will continue to be accepted at this facility if it is sent by an attorney of record. Legal mail must be clearly marked “Private Legal
    Mail” with the inmate’s name and cell location.
  • Business or administrative forms requiring a signature should be brought to the facility directly whenever possible and arrangements should be made for signatures through the Shift Supervisor or the Jail Administrator.
  • Any personal correspondence with inmates mixed in with legal or business mail will be destroyed.
  • We will continue to accept Bibles and Qurans mailed directly from Amazon. However, no used books will be accepted. This includes religious books: personal bibles, family bibles, or used religious texts will not be accepted.
