The Baldwin County Special Response Team’s (SRT) mission is to provide public, deputy, and offender safety by using increased manpower, services, skills, equipment, and weaponry not normally available to the individual deputy during a special crisis incident.  The Team is a designated group of law enforcement officers who are selected, trained, and equipped to work as a coordinated unit to resolve critical incidents that are hazardous, complex, or unusual.

SRT is made up of two elements that form one team with a total of 26 members.  The Blue Team is composed of sworn deputies who function in a law enforcement capacity, and the Red Team is composed of sworn deputies and detention staff who function in a correctional setting.

Monthly training is conducted which covers a wide variety of incidents such as: service of high risk warrants, incidents involving mass disruptions or riots, incidents where a suspect is armed with a weapon, barricaded, fortified, and is likely to be a danger to themselves or others, and incidents involving hostage rescue and negotiations.

Although extremely demanding, there is a high level of personal satisfaction experienced by each member of the team who volunteers their time to keeping the citizens of Baldwin County safe.
