Captain Chris Spires

The Patrol Division performs the uniformed patrol functions including responding to calls for service, 100 dispatch, training, K-9 operations, and criminal warrant operations. The Patrol Division is headed by Captain Chris Spires who is directly accountable to the Sheriff.

Captain Chris Spires began working at the Sheriff’s Office in 1993.  Captain Spires previously served as the criminal investigation commander.  During his time in investigations, he successfully arrested and prosecuted several high profile cases.  Captain Spires was transferred to the patrol commander position in 2009.  

Captain Chris Spires grew up in Forsyth, GA, as the son of the sheriff.  He did an internship with the G.B.I. marijuana task force in the summer of 1992.  Captain Spires graduated from Windsor Academy, in Macon, GA.  He received an Associate degree in Criminal Justice from Georgia Military College. 

During his law enforcement career, Captain Spires has been a member of the traffic unit, an accident reconstruction investigator, a P.R.I.D.E. instructor, and he attended federal interdiction training in Meridian, Mississippi.
