| The Jail Division performs the detention of incarcerated persons including medical, transports & court related duties at the jail. The Jail Division is headed by the Jail Administrator Captain Jeff Petty who is directly accountable to the Sheriff.
Captain Jeff Petty, a graduate of Leadership Baldwin, has been employed with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office since 1998. During his time here, he has been a jail officer, road deputy, jail lieutenant, and was promoted to his current position in 2005. Capt. Petty is a member of the Special Response Team and is the assistant commander of the unit. He has also been an operator, perimeter team leader, rear security team member, and entry team member. Captain Petty has received specialized training in high risk warrant service, CERT, SRT, and holds a general instructor certification.
During his law enforcement career, Captain Petty has received several awards including Detention Officer of the Year, Outstanding Leadership Award, Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, the Prestige Award, and the Patriotic Employer Award. He is a graduate from Georgia College & State University where he received a Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Public Administration.
